The Budget session of the Uttar Pradesh legislature begins today with an address by Governor Anandiben Patel to a joint sitting of both Houses. The session is scheduled to continue until the 20th of this month.

State Finance Minister Suresh Khanna will present the Uttar Pradesh Budget for the financial year 2026–27 in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.

Ahead of the session, Chief Minister and Leader of the House Yogi Adityanath appealed to all legislators to raise public issues responsibly and participate in constructive debate. He said cooperation between the government and the opposition was essential to speed up the state’s development.

Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana also urged members to work collectively to ensure smooth and effective conduct of proceedings throughout the session.
