Uttarakhand Ramps Up Winter Tourism Plans, Announces Insurance Cover for Char Dham Pilgrims

The Uttarakhand government has stepped up its efforts to make tourism and religious travel in the state safer, better managed, and more appealing to visitors. As part of its winter tourism push, Winter Games are being organised at various locations across the state to attract domestic and international tourists during the colder months.

With the winter season nearing its close, the administration has shifted focus to preparations for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra. Extensive planning is underway to ensure smooth arrangements for the annual pilgrimage, which draws lakhs of devotees from across the country and abroad.

State Tourism and Religious Affairs Minister Satpal Maharaj said the government’s priority is to provide improved facilities while ensuring a strong sense of safety and security for pilgrims and tourists. He announced that a new initiative will be introduced during this year’s Char Dham Yatra, offering insurance coverage to pilgrims as an added layer of protection.

The Minister also reviewed preparations for the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Haridwar, stating that all arrangements will be completed well in advance. He noted that special attention is being given to strengthening railway services, enhancing air connectivity, and streamlining traffic management to ensure a smooth experience for devotees.

Through these coordinated measures, the state government aims to position Uttarakhand as a well-organised and secure destination for both tourism and religious gatherings.
