January 16, 2026 : President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Praveen Vashista as a Vigilance Commissioner in the Central Vigilance Commission. The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions said Mr Vashista took the oath of office before the Central Vigilance Commissioner.

Mr Vashista brings more than three decades of experience in law enforcement, investigation, and internal security. An Indian Police Service officer of the 1991 batch from the Bihar cadre, he has held several senior roles on central deputation. His assignments in the Ministry of Home Affairs included serving as Joint Secretary, Additional Secretary, and Special Secretary, with responsibilities focused on internal security.
