  • Electoral Roll Changes Are Routine, Aadhaar Can’t Be Rejected on Forgery Fears: Supreme Court

    Supreme Court of India SC

Law Notify : The Supreme Court on Tuesday said that additions and deletions are a normal part of the electoral roll revision process carried out by the Election Commission of India. The observation came as the court resumed final hearings on a batch of 19 petitions challenging the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant, along with Justice Joymalya Bagchi, also noted that the mere possibility of forgery cannot be a valid reason to reject Aadhaar as a document. The court pointed out that even passports are issued through systems where private agencies perform public duties, underscoring that such risks exist across administrative processes.
