Law Notify : In Jharkhand, the Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Army Hawaldar posted in Ranchi along with a private individual for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹50,000. The case was registered on January 30 following a complaint that the Hawaldar had demanded ₹5 lakh in exchange for permitting construction work on land claimed to belong to the Army.

According to the complaint, the accused had already accepted a portion of the demanded amount before seeking the remaining sum. Acting on the information, the CBI laid a trap and caught both accused red-handed while accepting the bribe. Searches were subsequently carried out at their respective premises. Further investigation in the matter is ongoing.
