  • Supreme Court Directs West Bengal EROs and AEROs to Submit Pending Voter Documents to Judicial Officers by 5 PM

    February 26, 2026 : The Supreme Court has directed Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) in West Bengal to hand over all voter-related documents that have not yet been uploaded under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process to the designated Judicial Officers by 5 PM tomorrow.

    The direction was issued after the Election Commission brought the matter to the attention of the bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi, and Justice Vipul M. Pancholi. The Court clarified that all voter documents submitted to EROs and AEROs up to February 14, which remain unuploaded on the official portal, must be transferred to the Judicial Officers overseeing the SIR process within the stipulated timeline.
