February 26, 2026 : The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the trial proceedings in a money laundering case against Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. A bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M. Pancholi issued notice to the Enforcement Directorate on Soren’s petition seeking to quash the case.

In his plea, Soren has also challenged the repeated summons issued to him by the ED. He is contesting a recent order of the Jharkhand High Court, which declined to quash the proceedings against him.
