New Delhi : The Supreme Court of India has issued a fresh recruitment notification inviting online applications from eligible Indian citizens to fill vacancies across four cadres in its Registry and the Supreme Court Museum. Eligibility conditions will be assessed as on March 1, 2026.
A total of 22 posts have been advertised, covering editorial, museum, and library positions. Applications will be accepted only through online mode, and candidates must apply separately for each post.
Assistant Editor (Supreme Court Reports) – 5 Posts (UR)
Five vacancies have been notified for the post of Assistant Editor in the Supreme Court Reports at Pay Level 12, with an initial basic pay of ₹78,800 plus admissible allowances. The prescribed age limit is 30 to 40 years.
Applicants must possess a Law degree recognized for enrolment as an Advocate or be a member of the English Bar/Attorney of a High Court in India. Computer proficiency is mandatory. In addition, candidates must satisfy one of the specified experience criteria, which include three years’ continuous practice in a High Court or the Supreme Court, three years in a judicial post, relevant research, teaching or law reporting experience, or specified court service experience.
The selection process consists of a written examination covering Precis and Editorial Skills, along with Law and Constitution, followed by an interview. Minimum qualifying marks are prescribed for each stage. Candidates who qualify the written test may be shortlisted for interview in a 1:3 ratio against the number of vacancies.
Assistant Director (Ex-cadre), Supreme Court Museum – 1 Post (UR)
One vacancy is available for Assistant Director (Ex-cadre) in the Supreme Court Museum at Pay Level 11, with an initial basic pay of ₹67,700 plus allowances. The age limit is 30 to 40 years.
Candidates must hold a First Class Master’s degree in Museology, have knowledge of Indian antiquities and museum techniques, and be proficient in computer operations related to museum work. A minimum of five years’ research experience supported by published work in a museum or similar institution is required.
Selection will be through a written test comprising General English, General Knowledge, Aptitude, and Museology with Archaeology/History components, followed by a qualifying computer test and interview.
Senior Court Assistant (Ex-cadre), Supreme Court Museum – 2 Posts (UR)
Two vacancies have been notified at Pay Level 8 with an initial basic pay of ₹47,600 plus allowances. The upper age limit is 35 years.
Applicants must have a Master’s degree in Museology with at least 55 percent marks, along with computer knowledge. They should possess at least two years’ research experience, preferably in exhibitions or educational programmes, or two years’ experience in museum work at Assistant Curator level or above.
The selection process includes a written test, qualifying computer test, and interview, with prescribed minimum qualifying marks.
Assistant Librarian – 14 Posts (UR-10, SC-3, ST-1)
Fourteen posts of Assistant Librarian have been advertised at Pay Level 8 with an initial basic pay of ₹47,600 plus allowances. The upper age limit is 30 years.
Candidates must hold a Degree in Library Science and a Diploma in Computer Application or Library Automation as specified. They should have knowledge of computer operations in library work, including experience with standard library automation software and database searching, along with at least two years’ relevant experience in a recognized university or law library.
Selection will be through a written test covering Library Management and general sections, a scored computer test, and an interview. Qualifying marks vary for general and reserved categories. Candidates may be shortlisted in a 1:10 ratio for the computer test and thereafter in a 1:3 ratio for interview.
Age Relaxation and Reservation
Age relaxation will be provided to eligible categories such as SC, ST, OBC, persons with disabilities, ex-servicemen and dependents of freedom fighters in accordance with Government of India rules. Departmental candidates of the Supreme Court Registry have no upper age limit, though candidates from other government departments will not receive upper-age relaxation.
Reservation in direct recruitment will be implemented as per Government of India rules, subject to any modification specified by the Chief Justice of India.
Application Process, Fee and Important Dates
The online application window will open on February 23, 2026, and close on March 8, 2026. The recruitment link will be made available on the Supreme Court website.
The application fee is ₹1,500 for General and OBC candidates and ₹750 for SC, ST, Ex-servicemen, Differently Abled and Dependents of Freedom Fighters, plus applicable bank charges. Payment must be made online through the UCO Bank payment gateway. The fee is non-refundable.
Candidates who had already applied for these four posts under the July 25, 2025 advertisement are not required to apply again.
Exam Centres and Interview
Written and computer tests will be conducted at centres in Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. The interview will be held in Delhi only. Candidates must indicate their preferred test city, though the Registry reserves the right to allocate a different centre for administrative reasons.
Important Instructions
Admission to each stage of recruitment will be provisional and subject to verification of documents at the interview stage. Candidates must upload scanned copies of their photograph, signature and required documents while applying. Applications cannot be modified or withdrawn after submission.
Admit cards will not be sent by post and must be downloaded from the Supreme Court website. Test and interview dates will be notified online and communicated via SMS or email. Non-compliant applications are liable to be rejected. In case of disputes, jurisdiction will lie in Delhi.
