Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Rajani Dubey: A Dedicated Judicial Journey at the Chhattisgarh High Court

June 29, 2026 : Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Rajani Dubey, Judge of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, has built a distinguished career in the Indian judiciary through decades of service in both the subordinate courts and the High Court. Her journey reflects consistent commitment to judicial administration and the delivery of justice across various levels of the judicial system.

Justice Rajani Dubey was born on 30 June 1964 in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. She comes from a family with a strong judicial background, as her father served in the judiciary and retired as a District Judge from the High Court of Madhya Pradesh. This early exposure to the legal system played an important role in shaping her professional path.

She completed her graduation from Government Degree College, Mandla, affiliated with Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar. Thereafter, she pursued her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur. After completing her legal education, she enrolled as an Advocate with the Madhya Pradesh State Bar Council on 3 July 1987.

Following her enrolment, Justice Dubey practiced law at the District Bar and later at the High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur. She continued her legal practice until May 1990, when she was selected to the judicial service as a Civil Judge, marking the beginning of her long career in the subordinate judiciary.

During her tenure in the judicial service, she held several important judicial assignments in Madhya Pradesh and later in Chhattisgarh after the formation of the state. Over the years, she served as Judicial Magistrate First Class, Principal Magistrate of the Juvenile Justice Board, and Additional District and Sessions Judge. Her postings included important judicial centers such as Sagar, Jabalpur and Bilaspur.

Justice Dubey also served as Special Judge for CBI cases in Raipur and as Judge of the Family Court at Rajnandgaon. In addition, she held the position of District and Sessions Judge at Baloda Bazar. Her administrative experience includes serving as Registrar (Vigilance) at the High Court of Chhattisgarh in Bilaspur, where she was entrusted with important responsibilities related to judicial oversight and institutional administration.

Recognizing her extensive judicial experience and integrity, she was elevated as a Judge of the High Court of Chhattisgarh on 18 June 2018. She later took oath as a Permanent Judge of the High Court on 11 May 2020.

Throughout her tenure on the Bench, Justice Rajani Dubey has contributed significantly to the administration of justice in the state, bringing with her decades of experience from the trial courts to the constitutional court.

During her tenure on the Chhattisgarh High Court, Justice Rajani Dubey has delivered more than 10,000 judgments/judicial orders, according to the official records of the High Court of Chhattisgarh. Her decisions have covered a wide range of civil, criminal, writ, constitutional, and service law matters, reflecting her vast judicial experience and significant contribution to the development of jurisprudence in the State.

Justice Rajani Dubey is scheduled to retire on 29 June 2026 upon attaining the age of superannuation, concluding a long and dedicated career in the judiciary. Her professional journey stands as a notable example of service, experience and commitment within the Indian judicial system.
