June 28, 2026 : A joint meeting of the Monitoring Cell and the Hit-and-Run Committee was held at the Circuit House in Narayanpur under the chairmanship of Khilawan Ram Rigari, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kondagaon. The meeting focused on strengthening judicial infrastructure and ensuring timely compensation for victims of road accidents involving unidentified vehicles.
The meeting was attended by Jitendra Kumar Thakur, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Narayanpur; Robison Gudiya, Superintendent of Police, Narayanpur; Birendra Bahadur Panch Bhai, Additional Collector; Gayatri Sai, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority; and other district officials.
During the Monitoring Cell meeting, officials reviewed the progress relating to the proposed new Principal District and Sessions Court building. Discussions were also held on establishing a dedicated victim room within the court premises, developing accessible restroom facilities for persons with disabilities, and improving other judicial infrastructure and public service facilities.
The Hit-and-Run Committee also reviewed the compensation process for victims of road accidents caused by unidentified vehicles. Emphasis was laid on ensuring that the claim compensation mechanism functions efficiently so that the families of deceased victims and persons who suffer grievous injuries receive statutory compensation without unnecessary delay.
Officials from the Police Department and Transport Department were directed to promptly prepare all required documents related to eligible accident cases and submit them to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM). The objective is to facilitate the timely processing of compensation claims under the applicable legal framework for hit-and-run motor accident cases.
