March 16, 2026 : The Delhi Police on Monday termed a viral video circulating on social media as factually incorrect, in which a police officer allegedly claimed that individuals involved in narcotics and other criminal offences were being released on the directions of public representatives.

In a video statement, Akanksha Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West District), clarified that the claims made in the video were not accurate and did not reflect the functioning of the police department.

She informed that strict disciplinary action has been initiated against the concerned officer. As part of the immediate action, the officer has been transferred to District Lines and removed from the charge of Station House Officer (SHO).

Yadav emphasized that the Delhi Police operates strictly in accordance with the law and decisions in criminal cases are taken solely on the basis of evidence and legal merit, without any external interference.
