  • NCW Issues Summons Over Alleged Obscene Content in Songs “Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke” and “Tattiri/Tatihari”

    March 19, 2026 : The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports alleging obscenity and vulgarity in the songs “Tattiri/Tatihari” and “Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke.”

    Regarding “Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke,” the Commission observed that the content appears prima facie sexually suggestive and objectionable, potentially violating provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Information Technology Act, and the POCSO Act. Consequently, summons have been issued to actress Nora Fatehi, lyricist Raqueeb Alam, actor Sanjay Dutt, producer Venkat K. Narayana, and director Kiran Kumar, directing them to appear before the Commission on the 24th of this month.

    In the case of “Tattiri/Tatihari,” the NCW noted that the content also appears objectionable and in violation of provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Information Technology Act, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986. Summons have been issued to singer and lyricist Aditya Pareek Singh Sisodia (Badshah), directors Mahi Sandhu and Joban Sandhu, and producer Hiten, requiring their appearance before the Commission on the 25th of this month.

    The Commission has taken serious note of both matters, emphasizing the need to address content that may be derogatory or harmful to women.
