Andhra Pradesh Receives Second Consignment of HPV Vaccines to Combat Cervical Cancer

April 6, 2026 : The Central Government has bolstered Andhra Pradesh’s fight against cervical cancer by delivering a fresh batch of 190,890 doses of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine. This follows an initial shipment of 190,800 doses sent last month, bringing the state’s total supply to 381,780 doses.

Targeted specifically at girls aged 14 to 15 years, the vaccination campaign is a critical initiative to provide long-term protection against cervical malignancies. Health officials emphasize that the vaccine is both highly effective and safe.

The drive is scheduled to run through May 2025, with health authorities expecting a significant surge in distribution speed now that the 10th-grade public examinations have concluded. This transition allows the state to focus more resources on reaching the eligible student population.
