ED Conducts PMLA Raids at Premises Linked to Kolkata Police Officer and Businessman

April 19, 2026 : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out search operations at three locations connected to Kolkata Police Deputy Commissioner Shantanu Sinha Biswas and Sun Enterprise Managing Director Joy Kamdar. Of the three premises, two are linked to Biswas while one belongs to Kamdar.

The searches were conducted under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged financial irregularities involving Sona Pappu and Joy Kamdar. Sona Pappu, identified as a history-sheeter from Kolkata, had also faced recent ED action, with his premises being searched in connection with the same case.
