High Court of Chhattisgarh Announces Summer Vacation Schedule for 2026

April 29, 2026 : The High Court of Chhattisgarh has officially released its notification regarding the upcoming summer recess. According to the directive issued by the Registrar (Judicial) under the order of the Chief Justice, the High Court will remain closed for Summer Vacation starting from May 18, 2026 (Monday) through June 12, 2026 (Friday). The court is scheduled to formally re-open on June 15, 2026 (Monday).

Vacation Bench Sittings and Schedule

To ensure the handling of urgent judicial matters, Hon’ble Vacation Judges will preside over specific sittings throughout the break. The designated court sitting dates are as follows:

• May 2026: 19th, 21st, 26th, and 28th.
• June 2026: 2nd, 4th, 9th, and 11th.

Vacation Benches will commence Division Bench proceedings from 10:30 AM onwards. Single Bench matters will be heard following the completion of Division Bench cases, provided time permits.

Filing Procedures and Registry Hours

While the court is in recess, the Registry will maintain operations daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, excluding closed Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.

The notification outlines specific criteria for listing cases during this period:

• Fresh Matters: All fresh Writ, Civil, and Criminal matters must be accompanied by an application for urgent hearing.
• Bail Applications: Both fresh and pending bail applications will be listed automatically; no separate urgent hearing application is required.
• Pending Cases: For any pending cases other than bail, an application for urgent hearing must be filed.
• Deadlines: To be considered for a specific sitting day, cases or applications must be filed by 4:30 PM at least two working days prior to the bench sitting.

The notification has been forwarded to various judicial officers, the Advocate General, and the High Court Bar Association to ensure smooth administrative transitions during the vacation period.
