SSC Western Region Invites Applications for Young Professional (Legal Consultant) Post in Mumbai

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Western Region, Mumbai, has announced an opening for the position of Young Professional (Legal Consultant) on a short-term contractual basis. The engagement is for a single vacancy and will be based at the Commission’s Regional Office in Mumbai.

As per the notification, candidates must hold a graduate degree in law from institutions such as NLSIU or other law schools of comparable standing, with a minimum of 60% marks. The upper age limit for applicants is 32 years. The selected candidate will receive a consolidated monthly remuneration of ₹60,000.

The initial term of engagement is one year, which may be extended depending on performance and organizational requirements.

The role involves a mix of litigation management and advisory functions. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining databases of cases pending before judicial and quasi-judicial bodies including the Central Administrative Tribunal, High Courts, and the Supreme Court. The position also requires drafting pleadings such as petitions, replies, affidavits, and rejoinders, along with assisting SSC officials in service and recruitment-related matters.

Additional responsibilities include coordinating with the Ministry of Law and Justice, government counsels, and SSC Headquarters, as well as scrutinizing legal documents, contracts, and notices. The candidate will also be expected to analyze court orders and advise on their implementation.

While not mandatory, at least one year of experience in legal drafting, handling tribunal matters, recruitment or examination-related issues, and contract scrutiny will be considered desirable.
