Raipur District Bar Association Election to Be Held on May 15; Women Reservation Implemented in Key Posts
May 5, 2026 : The election process for the Raipur District Bar Association has gained momentum after the revised election schedule was issued in compliance with the directions of the High Court. According to the updated programme, the Bar Association elections will now be held on May 15.
During the general body meeting, women’s reservation was implemented for several posts. As per the revised structure, the posts of President and Secretary will remain unreserved, while the posts of Treasurer and Senior Vice President have been reserved for women candidates. The post of Junior Vice President will remain unreserved.
Similarly, the posts of Cultural and Sports Secretary, Library Secretary, and Assistant Secretary (1) will remain unreserved, while the post of Assistant Secretary (2) has been reserved for women. Out of the ten executive member positions, two seats will also be reserved for women candidates.
On the first day of the nomination process, a large number of candidates submitted their nomination papers. For the post of Treasurer, Mrs. Priya Agrawal, Mrs. Nivedita Mishra, and Mrs. Rani Lakshmi Sahu filed their nominations.
The final date for filing nominations is tomorrow, while the final list of candidates will be published on May 7. Voting will begin at 10 AM on May 15, and the election results will be declared on May 16.
