May 29, 2026 : Chhattisgarh has initiated a major statewide exercise aimed at improving the quality of higher education, strengthening administrative transparency, and providing students with a better academic environment. As part of this effort, an important divisional-level review meeting was held at Government T.C.L. Postgraduate College in Janjgir-Champa under the chairmanship of Higher Education Commissioner Mrs. Rita Yadav.
The Higher Education Department had made the personal attendance of college principals mandatory, clearly stating in advance that no representatives would be allowed to attend on their behalf. A total of 63 college heads participated in the strategic review meeting, which brought together principals and senior officials from government and private colleges across Bilaspur Division, Janjgir-Champa, and Sakti districts.
The participating institutions included two government and two private autonomous colleges from Bilaspur Division, 11 government and 27 private colleges from Janjgir-Champa district, and eight government and 13 private colleges from Sakti district. Senior officials from the Regional Office of Bilaspur Division were also present.
During the meeting, Commissioner Rita Yadav conducted a detailed review of academic and administrative preparations for the 2026-27 academic session. Discussions focused on five key areas considered crucial for the future development of higher education in the state.
A major emphasis was placed on the effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP). Colleges were instructed to ensure that the policy is implemented at the grassroots level and that academic programs and institutional resources are aligned with its objectives.
The Commissioner also directed institutions to simplify and streamline the admission process for the upcoming academic session while taking concrete measures to improve regular student attendance. Transparency in administration was another major focus, with colleges being instructed to ensure the mandatory implementation of e-Office systems and to promptly resolve issues related to procurement through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal.
The meeting further reviewed progress in research activities and e-education initiatives. College authorities were encouraged to promote faculty research and strengthen digital learning infrastructure so that students can benefit from modern educational technologies. Discussions also covered the responsibilities of guest lecturers and the need to enhance coordination between universities and affiliated colleges.
Addressing the gathering, Commissioner Rita Yadav said that providing students with quality education and a brighter future remains the highest priority of both the state government and the Higher Education Department. She emphasized that all college administrations must work with commitment, seriousness, and transparency to achieve these goals. She assured institutions that the department would extend every possible support to improve educational standards and strengthen the higher education ecosystem across Chhattisgarh.
