Legal Literacy Camp Held in Kondagaon’s Hasalnar Village, District Judge Educates Residents on Free Legal Aid and Citizen Rights

May 29, 2026 : A legal literacy camp was organized in Hasalnar Gram Panchayat of Kondagaon district, Chhattisgarh, with the objective of spreading awareness about legal rights and government welfare schemes among rural residents. The camp was led by Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kondagaon, Shri Khilawan Ram Rigri, who provided detailed information on various legal rights and assistance programs available to citizens.

The program was attended by District and Additional Sessions Judge Ms. Pratibha Markam, DLSA Secretary Gayatri Sai, Mardapal Police Station In-charge Shri Sushil Patel, Adhikar Mitras, and a large number of villagers.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Rigri emphasized that every individual has the right to access justice and that free legal aid is available to economically and socially disadvantaged sections of society. He informed participants about women’s rights, child protection laws, protection against domestic violence, cybercrime prevention measures, labor laws, and the role of Lok Adalats in providing quick and affordable dispute resolution.

During the camp, District and Additional Sessions Judge Ms. Pratibha Markam educated children and residents about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Motor Accident Claims Act. She explained the importance of legal awareness in safeguarding the rights and welfare of children and accident victims.

DLSA Secretary Gayatri Sai informed attendees that individuals facing any legal issue can approach the District Legal Services Authority to avail themselves of free legal assistance and guidance. Participants were also made aware of de-addiction initiatives, the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, the Right to Education Act, and the fundamental rights and duties guaranteed under the Constitution of India.

The camp concluded with an interactive awareness session aimed at empowering villagers with legal knowledge and encouraging them to seek legal remedies whenever required.
