More than 500 institutional investors, finance ministers and business leaders are set to participate in the inaugural iBRICS Summit, being held on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12 and 13.
The two-day summit aims to connect sovereign capital with bankable projects in infrastructure, energy and digital development across BRICS member and partner countries. Sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and family offices participating in the event collectively manage assets worth around 1 trillion US dollars.
Key discussions at the summit are expected to focus on cross-border investments, non-dollar settlements and the development of alternative payment systems among BRICS economies. Participants are also likely to explore greater integration between national fast-payment platforms, including India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and Brazil’s Pix, as well as interoperability between central bank digital currencies.
The iBRICS Summit comes amid significant shifts in global trade, including changing trade patterns, US tariff pressures and rising costs associated with dollar-based clearing. The platform is intended to facilitate greater institutional investment in infrastructure, energy and digital projects across the BRICS grouping.
As the BRICS Chair for 2026, India will host the 18th BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on September 12 and 13. The summit will bring together leaders from BRICS member and partner countries, along with outreach invitees.
India’s BRICS Chairship is guided by the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a people-centric approach rooted in the principle of “Humanity First.” This pivotal meeting aims to foster deeper global cooperation and sustainable development across key sectors.
