Bilaspur: Judicial officer Sudhir Kumar on Thursday took oath as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Chhattisgarh at Bilaspur, marking his elevation to the High Court Bench.
Before his elevation, Kumar was serving as the Principal Judge, Family Court, Raipur, a position he had held since March 2025. He has had an extensive judicial career spanning more than 17 years, having joined the judicial service in March 2009.
According to his service profile, Kumar has served in several judicial and administrative positions across Chhattisgarh. He has worked as District and Sessions Judge at Dantewada, Dhamtari and Bilaspur, and also served as Registrar (Vigilance) and Registrar General of the High Court of Chhattisgarh.
He also served as Principal District & Sessions Judge at Durg before being appointed Legal Advisor to the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission. His earlier postings included Additional District & Sessions Judge, Special Judge under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and Judge, Family Court.
Kumar holds B.A., LL.B. qualifications. With his appointment as an Additional Judge, he will now discharge judicial duties as a member of the High Court of Chhattisgarh at Bilaspur.
The elevation of Sudhir Kumar is part of the recent appointments to the Chhattisgarh High Court, strengthening the judicial strength of the High Court Bench.
