Commerce Ministry Extends RELIEF Component II Timeline to March 31 Next Year Amid West Asia Disruptions

Government of India

New Delhi : The Department of Commerce has extended the deadline for Component II of the Resilience and Logistics Intervention for Export Facilitation (RELIEF) scheme to March 31 of next year. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry stated that the extension was notified in light of ongoing geopolitical disruptions in West Asia and their impact on maritime logistics across the Gulf and adjacent regions. RELIEF is a time-bound intervention under the Export Promotion Mission.

Component II of the initiative is designed to encourage exporters to secure Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India (ECGC) cover for upcoming shipments to specified regions by offering 95 percent risk coverage. The benefit applies to Standalone Policies and Whole Turnover Policies obtained on or after the 16th of this year.

Under this component, the premium payable by eligible exporters is protected against increases beyond pre-disruption levels during the eligible period. Covered cargo categories include Full Container Load (FCL), Less than Container Load (LCL), and refrigerated containers, excluding energy shipments. Exporters seeking coverage under the RELIEF initiative must submit claims and supporting documents through the ECGC customer portal at www.ecgcltd.in.

Launched on March 19 this year, RELIEF is a targeted intervention to support Indian exporters facing extraordinary freight cost escalation, higher insurance premiums, and war-related export risks stemming from disruptions in the Gulf and the broader West Asian maritime corridor.
