Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Inaugurates IT Park Durg to Boost Innovation, Startups and Technology-Led Growth

June 1, 2026 : In a major step towards strengthening Chhattisgarh’s technology and innovation ecosystem, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated IT Park Durg at Civil Lines, Durg, on Monday. The event was attended by IIT Bhilai Director Rajiv Prakash, public representatives, senior government officials, industry leaders, startup founders, academicians, researchers, and members of the innovation ecosystem.

The IT Park has been developed through a collaborative initiative of the Government of Chhattisgarh, Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai, and Nagar Nigam Durg. The project aims to create a world-class ecosystem for technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, research, and employment generation in the state.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai reiterated the state government’s commitment to building an innovation-driven economy that empowers young entrepreneurs, attracts investments, and creates high-quality employment opportunities within Chhattisgarh.

The IT Park has been conceived as a dedicated hub for IT, IT-enabled Services (ITeS), software development companies, startups, and emerging technology enterprises. A key feature of the initiative is its integration of industry and academia, enabling companies operating within the park to collaborate directly with IIT Bhilai’s faculty, researchers, laboratories, and student talent pool.

This partnership is expected to facilitate applied research, product development, technical consulting, and the creation of globally competitive technology solutions. Companies and startups will also benefit from access to IIT Bhilai’s innovation infrastructure and technology development capabilities.

Speaking on the occasion, IIT Bhilai Director Rajiv Prakash said the vision behind the IT Park extends beyond physical infrastructure. He noted that the initiative seeks to create an environment where ideas can evolve into market-ready products, research can generate real-world impact, and startups can grow into globally competitive enterprises.

The facility offers modern office spaces, community halls, high-speed internet connectivity, uninterrupted power supply, startup incubation support, mentorship opportunities, government linkages, and access to innovation and commercialization programs. It is designed to support startups, MSMEs, research organizations, and technology-driven enterprises.

The broader objective of the project is to transform the Durg-Bhilai region into a leading software development, innovation, and technology hub capable of attracting national and international companies while generating local employment opportunities. The initiative is also expected to strengthen industry-academia collaboration and facilitate the commercialization of technologies developed within academic institutions.

Through IIT Bhilai and its innovation ecosystem, companies and startups operating from the IT Park will gain access to funded research projects, startup incubation programs, industry partnerships, mentorship networks, government schemes, and technology commercialization opportunities. Stakeholders believe this integrated framework will accelerate innovation, attract investment, and contribute significantly to economic growth and job creation in the state.

The inauguration of IT Park Durg marks an important milestone in Chhattisgarh’s efforts to position itself as a destination for technology-driven development and innovation-led economic growth, bringing together government, academia, industry, and entrepreneurs on a common platform to foster the next generation of technology enterprises and startups.
