Chhattisgarh High Court Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Dignity; Hon’ble Chief Justice Unfurls National Flag

Bilaspur, 15 August 2026: The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great dignity, enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at the premises of the High Court of Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur.

“The meaning of freedom is not merely the enjoyment of rights, but also the sincere discharge of our duties towards the nation and society. Our Constitution shows us a strong and clear path.”

On this sacred occasion of the national festival, the programme reflected a beautiful confluence of patriotism, constitutional values and the rich cultural heritage of Chhattisgarh. 

At the beginning of the programme, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ramesh Sinha, Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh, paid floral tributes at the statues of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution. Thereafter, the National Song “Vande Mataram” was sung with due respect by all those present. 

The Hon’ble Chief Justice hoisted the National Flag, following which everyone present stood together and sang the National Anthem, saluting the Tricolour with pride. Thereafter, a smart March Past was presented by the Police Force, NCC and NSS cadets, and the Chief Guest was accorded a Guard of Honour. 

During the celebration, a captivating glimpse of the folk culture of Chhattisgarh was also presented. The traditional Karma dance performed by the artists won the hearts of everyone present and further enhanced the grandeur of the programme. 

At the conclusion of the programme, the Hon’ble Chief Justice encouraged the parade participants who had given outstanding performances and honoured them by presenting mementoes. 

The dignified ceremony concluded with the singing of “Vande Mataram” and the National Anthem, filling the entire premises with a strong sense of patriotism. Thereafter, conveying an important message of environmental conservation, the Hon’ble Chief Justice and other Hon’ble Judges planted saplings in the High Court premises. 

The ceremony was attended by the Hon’ble Judges, Registrar General, office-bearers of the High Court Bar Association, senior advocates, officers of the Registry, Judicial Officers and employees of the High Court, along with a large number of representatives of the print and electronic media.
