The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has said that the temporary, one time exemptions granted to IndiGo Airlines from certain Flight Duty Time Limitation provisions have come to an end. The aviation regulator clarified that the relaxations, which were issued in the wake of widespread flight disruptions in early December 2025, were valid only up to yesterday.
According to the regulator, the exemptions were intended to help stabilise flight operations during an extraordinary phase while continuing to safeguard passenger safety and interests. Throughout the exemption period, IndiGo’s operations were kept under close watch. This included periodic reviews, deployment of DGCA officials at airports, and real time monitoring from the airline’s Operations Control Centre.
The DGCA has now made it clear that IndiGo must adhere fully to the approved regulatory framework governing Flight Duty Time Limitations. The airline has informed the regulator that it is prepared to implement the approved FDTL scheme and has put in place the necessary operational, rostering, and monitoring systems to ensure compliance from today.
The development marks a return to standard regulatory oversight following the temporary relief granted during the disruption phase.
