MP Government Launches Public Consultation Portal for Uniform Civil Code (UCC)

Madhya Pradesh Invites Public Feedback on Uniform Civil Code Through Dedicated Portal

May 23, 2026 : The Madhya Pradesh Government has initiated a major step towards the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) by launching a dedicated public consultation portal, ucc.mp.gov.in. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated the website at the State Secretariat, inviting citizens, political parties and social organisations to submit their opinions and suggestions on the proposed law. The state government has fixed June 15 as the final date for sending feedback through the portal.

Earlier in April, the government constituted a six-member high-level committee to examine the feasibility of implementing the Uniform Civil Code in the state. The committee is chaired by former Supreme Court judge Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai.

The panel has been tasked with studying laws related to marriage, divorce, inheritance, maintenance and other civil matters. It will also review the UCC frameworks adopted in states such as Uttarakhand and Gujarat before preparing its recommendations. Based on the committee’s findings, a detailed report will be submitted to the Madhya Pradesh Government for further consideration.
