Delhi Police Explains Denial of Jantar Mantar Protest Permission, Cites Security Concerns

Delhi Police on Sunday stated that officers approached CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke after receiving information about the death of his grandmother and offered assistance, including the opportunity to speak with his parents.

Addressing the media in New Delhi, DCP Neha Yadav said police personnel repeatedly asked Dipke whether he wished to speak to his parents, but he declined the offer. She also referred to what she described as the organisation’s previous failure to comply with undertakings and official directives.

Explaining the decision to deny permission for the proposed sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar, the DCP said the prescribed procedures had not been followed. She cited previous instances of alleged non-compliance with applicable laws and guidelines, along with the prevailing security and law-and-order situation.

Delhi Police maintained that the decision regarding the proposed demonstration was based on procedural requirements and security considerations.
