May 31, 2026 : A public hearing will be held on June 6, 2026, at 11 a.m. in Kongupalli village of Bhopalpatnam tehsil as part of the Social Impact Assessment (SIA) study for a proposed land acquisition project under the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. The hearing aims to gather feedback, suggestions, and objections from affected residents, farmers, and other stakeholders.

According to the notification issued by the authorities, land acquisition has been proposed for the construction of the main canal, minor canal, and sub-minor canal under the Komatpalli (Kokampalli) Diversion Scheme. A total of 0.169 hectares of land in Kongupalli village is proposed to be acquired for the project.

The assessment report states that three families will be directly affected by the acquisition, while no families are expected to face indirect impacts. The total estimated cost of the project has been pegged at ₹774.57 lakh, with an additional provision of ₹5 lakh earmarked for mitigating social impacts and implementing rehabilitation-related measures.

Officials said that upon completion, the scheme will provide irrigation facilities to nearly 300 hectares of agricultural land across the villages of Kottapalli, Uskaled, Kongupalli, and Pamgal. The project is expected to improve agricultural productivity and deliver long-term economic benefits to farmers in the region.

The Collector and District Land Acquisition Officer have appealed to local residents, farmers, and other stakeholders to participate in the public hearing and submit their suggestions or objections regarding the proposed acquisition. Authorities said public participation is an important part of ensuring transparency and assessing the project’s social impact before any final decision is taken.
