June 2, 2026 : The Supreme Court Collegium has approved the proposal for the appointment of two Additional Judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court as Permanent Judges. The decision was taken during the Collegium’s meeting held on June 2, 2026.
According to an official statement, the Collegium approved the elevation of Justice Harmeet Singh Grewal and Justice Deepinder Singh Nalwa from Additional Judges to Permanent Judges of the High Court.
The approval marks a significant step in strengthening the judicial strength of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The appointment of Additional Judges as Permanent Judges follows an assessment of their performance, judicial work, and overall suitability for permanent elevation.
With the Collegium’s recommendation now in place, the appointments will proceed through the formal process for issuance of warrants of appointment by the Central Government.
