March 24, 2026 : The Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, Sanjeev Kumar Tamak, conducted an inspection of the District Jail in Kanker on Tuesday. During the visit, he interacted with inmates, listened to their grievances, and informed them about their legal rights.
Highlighting the importance of both mental and physical well-being, the Judge stressed the need for inmates to follow a balanced daily routine and engage in regular physical exercise. He also reviewed the arrangements related to food and drinking water within the jail premises, directing concerned officials to maintain proper quality and hygiene standards.
The Judge further instructed that inmates who do not have access to legal representation must be provided free legal aid to ensure that they are not deprived of justice. In addition, he reviewed the overall jail administration and emphasized the adoption of modern technology to facilitate quicker and more effective resolution of inmates’ issues.
The inspection was attended by Superintendent of Police Nikhil Rakhecha, Chief Judicial Magistrate Bhaskar Mishra, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority Shanti Prabhu Jain, and Chief Executive Officer of the District Panchayat Haresh Mandavi.
