April 12, 2026 : A one-day training programme aimed at strengthening child rights protection and promoting legal awareness was organized under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority on April 10. The session was conducted under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge and Authority Chairman Khilawan Ram Rigri.
The programme witnessed participation from judicial officers, officials from the education department, and rights volunteers. Key attendees included District and Additional Sessions Judge Vikram Pratap Chandra, Additional District and Sessions Judge (FTC) Pratibha Markam, Chief Judicial Magistrate Reshma Bairagi Patel, DLSA Secretary Gayatri Sai, and District Education Officer Bharti Pradhan.
The training focused on spreading awareness about child rights, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Right to Education Act, and other child protection laws. Discussions also emphasized the effective implementation of these legal provisions within schools.
During the session, the Principal Judge highlighted critical issues such as prohibition of child labour, prevention of child marriage, ensuring safety in schools, and tackling exploitation and discrimination against children. He directed authorities to monitor cases where students remain absent for three to four consecutive days.
In his address, he stressed that safeguarding children’s rights is a collective responsibility of society. He noted that such training programmes play a vital role in enhancing the sensitivity and efficiency of officials and volunteers.
District Education Officer Bharti Pradhan appreciated the initiative and stated that the knowledge gained from the training would be disseminated among teachers, rig staff, and students to ensure wider awareness of child rights.
