Police-Judiciary Coordination Key to Effective Justice Delivery, Says DLSA Kondagaon During Training for Trainee ASIs

June 10, 2026 : In a significant initiative aimed at strengthening the criminal justice system and promoting a better understanding of legal processes among law enforcement personnel, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kondagaon, organized an orientation programme for trainee Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) on Tuesday. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Principal District and Sessions Judge and DLSA Chairman Khilawan Ram Rigri and was chaired by Additional District and Sessions Judge Vikam Pratap Chandra.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Reshma Bairagi Patel, DLSA Secretary Gayatri Sai, and trainee police officers were also present during the session. The programme focused on judicial procedures, the rule of law, the role of police administration, and the importance of coordination between the judiciary and law enforcement agencies.

Addressing the participants, Additional District and Sessions Judge Vikam Pratap Chandra emphasized that the police serve as a crucial link between citizens and the justice delivery system. He noted that police officers play a vital role in implementing the law, safeguarding citizens’ rights, and maintaining public order. He urged the trainee officers to discharge their duties with integrity, impartiality, professionalism, and sensitivity.

The training session included detailed discussions on crime registration, investigation procedures, evidence collection, the role of witnesses, and the responsibilities of police officers during court proceedings. Participants were informed that investigation and evidence gathering are integral components of the judicial process and that the quality of these procedures significantly influences the administration of justice.

The programme also highlighted the need for a victim-centric and sensitive approach while dealing with cases involving women, children, senior citizens, and other vulnerable sections of society. Speakers stressed that the objective of the legal system extends beyond punishing offenders and includes ensuring justice for victims and protecting their legal rights.

Officials further underscored the importance of adherence to statutory provisions, procedural fairness, and constitutional values during investigations. The session reinforced the principle that effective policing, when aligned with the rule of law and judicial standards, contributes to a more transparent and accountable justice system.

The programme concluded with a call for trainee officers to prioritize public interest, maintain professional discipline, conduct lawful and fair investigations, and adopt a responsive and citizen-focused approach in the discharge of their duties. The initiative was viewed as an important step toward strengthening police-judiciary coordination and enhancing legal awareness among future law enforcement officers.
