April 25, 2026 : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out extensive raids across West Bengal today as part of its ongoing investigation into alleged corruption in the public distribution system (PDS). Operations are underway at nine locations spanning Kolkata, Burdwan, and Habra.
The searches are being conducted under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), following allegations of large-scale irregularities in the distribution of essential commodities.
In Kolkata, ED teams are conducting searches in the Brahmapur and Regent Park areas of South Kolkata. In Habra, officials, supported by central forces, are interrogating rice traders and examining both residential and commercial premises.
Among those under scrutiny are Samir Chandra, Sagar Saha, and Partha Saha, with multiple properties linked to them being searched. A rice mill in Burdwan has also been brought under the scanner as part of the probe.
The latest action marks another phase in the ED’s widening investigation into alleged PDS-related corruption across the state.
