ITAT Grants Relief to Taxpayer Raju Samsurat Yadav in Income Tax Dispute

May 7, 2026 : The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) has delivered a significant ruling in favour of taxpayer Raju Samsurat Yadav, providing relief in an income tax dispute involving assessment and related additions made by the tax authorities.

The Tribunal examined the facts of the case, submissions made by both parties, and the evidentiary material placed on record before arriving at its conclusion. After evaluating the legality of the assessment proceedings and the basis of the additions, the ITAT held that the action of the assessing authority was not sustainable to the extent challenged by the appellant.

The ruling reiterates the principle that tax authorities must rely on proper evidence and follow due process while making additions or reassessments under the Income Tax Act. The Tribunal emphasized that arbitrary or unsupported additions cannot be sustained merely on suspicion without corroborative material.

The decision is expected to provide guidance in similar income tax disputes concerning assessment procedures, evidentiary standards, and taxpayer rights before appellate forums.
