NCW Takes Suo Motu Cognisance of Suspicious Death of Noida Woman in Bhopal

May 20, 2026 : The National Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognisance of the reported suspicious death of a 33-year-old woman from Noida in Bhopal.

Taking serious note of the incident, NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar has written to the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of Madhya Pradesh, directing them to ensure a prompt, impartial and time-bound investigation into the matter.

The Commission has also sought a detailed Action Taken Report within seven days. Further, the NCW directed the authorities to ensure the safety and protection of the victim’s family from any threats or intimidation so that the investigation may proceed without any external pressure.
