Surguja Police Holds Investigation Workshop to Strengthen Criminal Investigations Under New Criminal Laws

July 26, 2026 : In a significant initiative to improve the quality of criminal investigations and ensure the effective implementation of India’s new criminal laws, the Surguja Police organised a one-day Investigation Workshop at the Police Coordination Centre on Sunday. The workshop brought together judicial officers and police investigators to enhance investigative skills, legal compliance, and evidence collection practices.

District and Sessions Judge Shakti Singh Rajput led the training session, providing detailed guidance on scientific investigation techniques, legal procedures, electronic evidence, crime scene examination, the law of evidence, and the effective use of circumstantial evidence. He advised investigating officers to conduct fair, impartial, and scientific investigations by logically connecting every piece of evidence to build strong prosecution cases.

The workshop was attended by DIG and SSP Rajesh Agrawal, First Additional Sessions Judge Mamta Patel, Chief Judicial Magistrate Pallav Raghuvanshi, Principal Magistrate Kalpana Bhagat, Additional Superintendent of Police Amolak Singh Dhillon, along with other judicial and police officers. Station House Officers, Outpost In-Charges, trainee Sub-Inspectors, and investigating officers from across the district also participated.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Pallav Raghuvanshi highlighted the legal procedures governing arrests, remand and transit remand, proper maintenance of case diaries, and mandatory compliance with provisions of the NDPS Act and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act during investigations.

Principal Magistrate Kalpana Bhagat emphasised the need for a child-friendly and sensitive approach while dealing with cases involving juveniles under the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act.

The training covered a wide range of subjects, including the Juvenile Justice Act, SC/ST Act, NDPS Act, closure reports, electronic evidence, and Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) cases. Concluding the workshop, DIG and SSP Rajesh Agrawal thanked the judicial officers for sharing their expertise and directed all investigating officers to strictly implement the guidance provided during the programme to improve investigation standards and ensure timely justice for victims.
