Government to Introduce Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in Lok Sabha

July 26, 2026 : The Central Government will introduce the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha on Monday. The proposed legislation has been included in the official List of Business for the House and will be tabled by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh.

The amendment seeks to strengthen the existing Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, with the objective of tackling paper leaks and examination-related malpractices more effectively.

The move comes after the Union Cabinet, on Friday, approved the draft amendment bill. The proposed changes include provisions for establishing fast-track courts to ensure speedy trials in cases involving paper leaks and other unfair practices in public examinations. The bill also aims to introduce stricter punishments to deter organized exam fraud and protect the integrity of recruitment and competitive examinations.
