The Government has constituted a 31-member Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to examine the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026. Lok Sabha MP Sanjay Jaiswal will head the committee, which has been tasked with scrutinising the proposed amendments to the law.
Several prominent members of the Lok Sabha have been included in the panel, including Bhartruhari Mahtab, Tejasvi Surya, Nishikant Dubey, A. Raja and Supriya Sule.
From the Rajya Sabha, the committee includes Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Sanjay Kumar Jha, Praful Patel and Menaka Guruswamy, among other members.
Both Houses of Parliament had approved on August 12, 2026, the proposal to refer the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, to a Joint Parliamentary Committee for detailed examination.
The Bill seeks to further amend the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 (FCRA). Its stated objective is to strengthen transparency and accountability in the receipt and utilisation of foreign contributions.
The JPC will examine the provisions of the proposed legislation and consider its wider implications before submitting its recommendations to Parliament.
