April 27, 2026 : A preparatory meeting was held at the Advocates’ Chamber in Bemetara in view of the upcoming National Lok Adalat scheduled for May 9, 2026. The meeting was conducted under the guidance of the District Legal Services Authority and attended by advocates and judicial officers.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the primary objective of the Lok Adalat is to facilitate amicable settlement of disputes through mutual consent in a harmonious environment, where neither party is considered a loser or a winner. Disputes are resolved through compromise between the parties, with advocates playing a key role in the process.
Advocates were urged to regularly monitor their cases and actively assist in resolving a larger number of matters through the Lok Adalat mechanism. Special focus was laid on pre-litigation cases involving BSNL, the electricity department, municipal bodies, insurance companies, and banks. Attention was also drawn to the settlement of cheque bounce cases, maintenance matters, and compoundable criminal cases.
It was further informed that the National Lok Adalat will be held not only at the District Court, Bemetara, but also at the Taluka Court in Saja. As in previous editions, a significant number of revenue cases are also targeted for disposal during the Lok Adalat.
Office bearers of the Bar Association and several advocates were present at the meeting.
