Boiler Explosion at Vedanta Power Plant in Chhattisgarh Claims Nine Lives, Dozens Injured

April 14, 2026 : At least nine workers lost their lives in a boiler explosion at a Vedanta power plant in Sakti district of Chhattisgarh. The incident occurred at the facility located in Singhanterai village under the Dabhra block.

More than forty workers suffered burn injuries in the blast, with eight reported to be in critical condition. The injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Police and administrative officials reached the site soon after the incident and are currently carrying out rescue and relief operations. Superintendent of Police Prafull Thakur stated that the exact cause of the explosion is yet to be determined, and an investigation has been initiated.
