June 2, 2026 : The Chhattisgarh government has approved a series of major industrial, commercial and infrastructure projects aimed at accelerating economic growth and improving urban infrastructure across the state.
The decisions were taken during a meeting of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Appraisal Committee chaired by Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel at Mahanadi Bhawan in Raipur on Monday. The meeting, convened under the Commerce and Industries Department and the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC), reviewed key projects proposed for development through the PPP model.
Among the projects that received in-principle approval is the proposed Raipur Gems and Jewellery Park, which will be developed at the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) premises on Mandi Road in Raipur. The project aims to create a modern hub for the gems and jewellery industry and boost investment in the sector.
The committee also approved plans for the development of a large-scale Transport Nagar in Bilaspur to address growing traffic congestion caused by heavy vehicles within the city. The proposed facility will include modern warehouses, a logistics hub, extensive parking infrastructure, vehicle repair centres and dedicated rest areas for drivers.
Another key project cleared during the meeting is the development of a world-class convention centre in Nava Raipur. Designed to host national and international conferences, exhibitions, corporate events and business summits, the facility is expected to strengthen Chhattisgarh’s position as a destination for business tourism and large-scale commercial events.
The committee discussed the implementation framework for all three projects under the Public-Private Partnership model, with the objective of leveraging private sector participation in infrastructure development.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Law and Legislative Affairs Department, Sushma Sawant; Finance Secretary Dr. Rohit Yadav; Commerce and Industries Secretary Rajat Kumar; NITI Aayog Member Secretary Ashish Bhatt; Finance Department Special Secretary Sheetal Shashwat Verma; and senior officials of the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation.
