CJI Surya Kant Warns of Legal Action Over Fake Casteist Quote Viral on Social Media

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has strongly condemned a fabricated casteist statement falsely attributed to him on social media, warning that those responsible will face strict legal action.

The controversy arose after an X account named “@UnreservedMERIT” shared a post carrying a Hindi quote alongside the Chief Justice’s photograph and the caption “Chief Justice of India.” The post falsely suggested that CJI Surya Kant had made remarks concerning caste and social status.

Reacting sharply, CJI Surya Kant categorically denied making any such statement and described the claims as completely baseless and fraudulent.

“These assertions, which have been fraudulently attributed to me, are entirely baseless and do not reflect my words, views, or character,” he stated. He further condemned the circulation of fabricated content aimed at misleading the public.

The Chief Justice also urged people to verify the authenticity of information before believing or sharing such claims on social media platforms.

Issuing a stern warning to those behind the fake post, he said he was prepared to “bring the full might of the law” against the perpetrators and ensure they face legal consequences for spreading misinformation.
