JNU Advocate Empanelment 2026: Advocates and Law Firms Can Apply, Check Eligibility and Last Date

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, has invited applications for empanelment of Advocates and Law Firms to represent and assist the university before various courts, including the Supreme Court, High Courts and District Courts. The application process is being conducted as per the prescribed format issued by JNU.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized university and be registered with the Bar Council of India/Delhi. Advocates should also have at least five years of professional experience in handling cases relating to educational institutions, universities or government departments before the Supreme Court, High Courts and District Courts.

Applicants should have good communication skills in English and sound knowledge of civil and criminal law and procedure. Familiarity with areas including writ petitions, PILs, land disputes, constitutional law, service law, contract law, property law and taxation is also required.

Documents Required

Applicants are required to submit the prescribed application form along with self-attested supporting documents. These include proof of age, educational qualification certificates, Bar Council registration certificate, Bar Association/Bar Council identity card and details of experience and representation before other government, PSU, statutory bodies or universities.

Applicants may also provide details of previous empanelments, favourable judgments reported in reputed legal journals, office infrastructure and the number of associates and staff.

Tenure of Empanelment

The initial empanelment will be for two years. The performance of empanelled Advocates and Law Firms will be reviewed annually. Subject to satisfactory performance and applicable terms and conditions, JNU may extend the empanelment by one year.

JNU has clarified that mere submission of an application does not create any right or assurance of empanelment. Confirmation of empanelment will be communicated separately by the university.

Application Deadline

The last date for receipt of applications along with supporting documents is 29 August 2026. Candidates should carefully read the official notification and submit their applications in the prescribed format before the deadline.

How to Apply

Eligible Advocates and Law Firms should complete the prescribed Annexure-A application form, attach the required self-attested documents and submit the application as specified in the official notification.
