Legal Services Authority Conducts Awareness Camp for Senior Citizens at Old Age Home in Mahasamund

June 15, 2026 : In line with the directions of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the Chhattisgarh State Legal Services Authority, Bilaspur, a special awareness campaign is being conducted under Jagriti Yojana 2025 on the theme of senior citizens’ rights, empowerment, dignity, and access to justice.

According to a press release issued by Adhikar Mitra Harichand Sahu, the campaign is being organized under the guidance of Anita Dahariya, Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Mahasamund, and Principal District and Sessions Judge. The initiative aims to educate elderly citizens about their legal rights, welfare measures, and the importance of ensuring a life of dignity and respect.

As part of the campaign, DLSA In-charge Secretary Chetna Thakur visited Ashiyana Old Age Home on Daldali Road and conducted an awareness camp for the residents. During the program, senior citizens were informed about their legal rights, protection mechanisms, social welfare provisions, and avenues available for accessing justice.

Addressing the gathering, Thakur emphasized the importance of safeguarding the rights and dignity of senior citizens and highlighted their valuable contribution to society. She also encouraged the elderly to remain aware of the legal protections and support systems available to them.

The awareness drive forms part of a broader effort by the District Legal Services Authority to empower senior citizens, enhance their access to justice, and promote respect, inclusion, and dignity for the elderly within society.
