NCW Reviews Progress in Paratwada Obscenity Case, Seeks Faster Forensic Action

April 18, 2026 : The Chairperson of the National Commission for Women, Vijaya Rahatkar, chaired a high-level review meeting to assess developments in the Paratwada case in Amravati, Maharashtra, involving the alleged creation and circulation of obscene videos and images of young girls.

In its statement, the Commission flagged serious concerns over the misuse of technology for exploitation, the extent of circulation of such content, and the impact on the safety and dignity of the victims. It directed authorities to speed up forensic examination and submit status reports every five days to ensure close monitoring of the investigation.

During the briefing, SP (Rural) Vishal Anand informed the Commission that eight individuals, including the main accused, have been arrested so far.

The Chairperson also instructed officials to work in coordination with Maharashtra Cyber to ensure the complete and permanent removal of all objectionable material from online platforms, with the aim of preventing further harm to the victims.
