Sabarimala Temple Closes After Vishu Festival, Reopens May 14

April 18, 2026 : The Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple will close at 10 pm today, bringing the eight-day annual Vishu festival to a close. Opened on April 10, the shrine saw a significant influx of pilgrims during the Vishu celebrations and the monthly poojas.

The traditional Vishu Kani darshan was held in the early hours of Wednesday, drawing large numbers of devotees who gathered to witness the auspicious arrangement before the deity. The temple is scheduled to reopen on May 14 for the next five-day monthly pooja.
