April 27, 2026 : A preparatory meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, Mr. Khilawan Ram Rigri, to review arrangements for the upcoming National Lok Adalat scheduled on May 9. The meeting was attended by all Station House Officers (SHOs) of the district.
Among those present were Additional District and Sessions Judge Vikram Pratap Chandra, Chief Judicial Magistrate Reshma Bairagi Patel, and Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority Gayatri Sai, along with other officials.
Discussions focused on the effective organization of the Lok Adalat, disposal of pending cases, and strengthening coordination between the judiciary and the police department. Emphasizing the significance of Lok Adalats, the Chair highlighted that they facilitate speedy and amicable settlement of cases, helping reduce the burden of pending litigation while ensuring timely relief to citizens.
SHOs were directed to identify and compile a list of cases suitable for settlement through the Lok Adalat. Stress was also laid on increasing the number of cases resolved with active cooperation from the police department.
The meeting further underscored prioritizing the disposal of excise-related cases, traffic challans, compoundable offences, and pre-litigation matters during the Lok Adalat.
