May 18, 2026 : President Droupadi Murmu will present the Padma Awards for the year 2026 on May 25 during the first Civil Investiture Ceremony to be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The information was shared by the Ministry of Home Affairs through a social media post.
This year, the Government of India has announced a total of 131 Padma Awards, including five Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri honours. Among the recipients, 19 are women, while 16 awards will be conferred posthumously.
The Padma Awards are among the country’s highest civilian honours and consist of Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. Instituted in 1954, these awards are announced every year on the occasion of Republic Day.
The awards recognise exceptional and distinguished service across various fields, including art, literature, education, sports, medicine, social work, science and engineering, public affairs, and trade and industry.
