Supreme Court Representation Seeks CBI Probe into Alleged Misappropriation of Ram Temple Donations in Ayodhya

June 15, 2026 : A representation has been submitted before the Supreme Court seeking the registration of an FIR and a court-monitored investigation into allegations of misappropriation and irregularities in donations and offerings made at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya. The plea was addressed to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and filed by Advocate-on-Record Anoop Prakash Awasthi.

The representation urges the apex court to order an independent investigation by a premier agency such as the Central Bureau of Investigation. It further seeks that the probe be conducted under the direct supervision of the Supreme Court to ensure transparency and public confidence.

According to the representation, the matter involves the faith and trust of millions of devotees across India and abroad. It states that recent reports alleging irregularities, misappropriation, or disappearance of donation funds linked to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple have raised serious concerns among devotees. While the Uttar Pradesh government has already constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to examine the issue, the representation argues that the absence of a formal FIR and criminal investigation has led to questions regarding the adequacy of the institutional response.

The plea contends that the SIT mechanism alone may not be sufficient to inspire confidence among devotees and stakeholders. It argues that doubts regarding the independence and impartiality of the inquiry may persist unless the investigation is conducted under the supervision of a constitutional court.

Seeking judicial intervention, the representation has requested the Supreme Court to direct a CBI investigation under its monitoring. It has also called for the establishment of safeguards to preserve and protect donated funds and sought a comprehensive examination of the collection, accounting, custody, management, and disbursement of donations received by the Ram Temple.
