Supreme Court to Hear Pleas Seeking Time-Bound Probe into Alleged Ram Temple Donation Embezzlement

July 10, 2026 : The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Monday a batch of petitions seeking a fair, transparent and time-bound investigation into the alleged embezzlement of donations collected at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The petitions seek judicial oversight of the investigation into the alleged misappropriation of funds received by the temple.

The matter comes amid an ongoing criminal investigation into the alleged theft of donations. On July 7, an Ayodhya court granted one-day police remand for three of the eight accused arrested in the case. Earlier, on June 29, the local court had remanded all eight accused to 14 days of judicial custody as the investigation progressed.

In a significant development, the Uttar Pradesh government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on June 13 following a request from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The SIT was formed after allegations surfaced regarding the alleged misappropriation of donations offered by devotees at the Ram Temple.

The Supreme Court’s hearing is expected to focus on the demand for a comprehensive and time-bound investigation to ensure accountability and maintain public confidence in the management of donations received at one of the country’s most prominent religious institutions.
